I know many might disagree but if it was up to me, this police officer will be out of the force. Some may say no harm was done and I’m just making a big deal out of nothing but if our police officers start acting like this, how different are we from the other corrupt countries.
In November 2019 a woman got involved in an road traffic collision, the police officer who came to take the report was her husband. The officer did not mention to the other driver that he was the husband of the other driver involved.
Without disclosing that one of the drivers was his wife, he asked a colleague to perform a PNC check on the member of the public’s motor vehicle with no proper policing purpose for it.
Met police Commander Pete Gardner said `the officer completely abused his position by failing to disclose his wife was one of the parties involved in the collision‘, so my question is why was given a warning, he should have been sucked but that’s just my opinion.
If other police officers see that they can get away with corruption in the force what will stop them from doing similar things. One of the things the police need is trust from the public but how can anyone trust them if they still allow corrupt officers in the force. Especially these days were the relationship between the public and the police is at its worst I do not think they should have done such a thing.
