25-year-old Joshua Plunkett has now been sentenced to 14-and-a-half years’ imprisonment after being convicted of multiple offences at Croydon Crown Court. The offences included Two counts of sexual activity with a child, Actual bodily harm, Perverting the course of justice, Controlling coercive behaviour.
The first offence happened back in 2016, when Joshua contacted the first victim online. The victim was just 15 at the time, he asked her to send private pictures of herself but the victim was not ready for that so she told him no. He then send her rude messages and abused her via text messages. The victim then relented and send him multiple private pictures.
In 2017 Joshua began a conversation with a 13-year-old. Despite him thinking the victim was just 14 years old he sent her multiple sexual messages.
In 2018 he met up with an 18-year-old girl who he was talking to back when she was just 15. Joshua became very demanding and abusive as the relationship developed. He demanded the victim give him access to her phone when she refused he struggled her. The victim ended the relationship, Joshua then logged into the victim’s social media accounts and send videos of the two engaging in sexual activities to her friends and family.
Again in 2018, he met up with another 18-year-old girl who he started talking to back when she was just 15 as well. Whilst the two were play fighting, he intentionally hold of her finger and tried to snap it. While on remand in December 2018 he persuaded her to retract some of the statements she had reported to the police, the victim withdrew her statement in January 2019.
When Joshua was out on bail in January 2020, he went to the victim’s house uninvited. He violently attacked her, the incident was also witnessed by the victim’s 12-year-old sister. In June 2020 the victim changed her mind after talking to the police, she told them how bad the abuse was.
In 2019 Joshua contacted the fifth victim via Snapchat, he lied to the 14-year-old girl and told her that he was just 16. Again despite Joshua knowing that the victim was just 14 he sent her videos of him engaging in sexual activities. The victim blocked him, in 2020 he attempted to contact the victim from prison.
