Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal stabbing in Southwark.

At 19:46hrs on Tuesday, 14 December police were called to reports of a stabbing on Hampton Street, SE1. Officers attended with medics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification has not taken place.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating and would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
