Jack Rogers, a 33-year-old man from Beckhenham, has denied allegations that he attacked Kamil Sobala, a stranger who had just arrived in the UK from Poland and had asked him for directions at Victoria coach station in London on the evening of June 18.
According to Mr. Sobala, he had been seeking directions to the Elizabeth Street Tube station when he was attacked. Mr. Sobala was treated in the hospital after being found unconscious by members of the public and the Metropolitan Police launched an appeal for information about his attackers.
Rogers was arrested after he turned himself in at a West London police station and was later charged through a postal requisition. On Tuesday, January 3, he appeared at Southwark Crown Court via video link, where he only confirmed his name and details and entered a plea of not guilty to one count of causing GBH with intent and one count of grievous bodily harm under Section 18 and Section 20, respectively. Rogers is scheduled to stand trial on July 3, 2023.
