It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Maureen Gitau, a 24-year-old woman, has been missing since Monday, 5 December. Her family reported her missing on Saturday, 10 December, and despite public appeals for help, she has not been seen or heard from since. The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command has been assisting in the investigation and has recently arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of Maureen’s murder.
While Maureen’s body has not yet been found, there is reason to believe that she has been seriously harmed and may have been killed. It is believed that Maureen and the arrested man knew each other. Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, has expressed her condolences to Maureen’s family during this incredibly difficult time and assured them that they will be supported by specialist officers. If you knew Maureen and saw her in the Deptford area on the day of her disappearance, or
